OceanFirst Foundation will present a check for $10,000 to Gateway Community Action Partnership to support Gateway’s Healthy Food Express - Bridgeton’s Mobile Feeding Bus at Gateway on Aug. 24, 11 a.m. Along with the check presentation, Gateway will also hold a ribbon cutting to officially launch the summer feeding program of the Healthy Food Express.
The Healthy Food Express summer feeding program is aimed at plugging the food insecurity gap when children are out of school during the summer months. When schools close in the summer months and during winter and spring break periods, many of the county’s neediest children are left without enough food to eat. The Healthy Food Express summer feeding program will bring healthy, nutritious meals to these children.
These meals will be delivered to congregate feeding sites such as churches, schools and civic buildings. In instances where no facilities are available, children will be permitted to eat their meals aboard the bus or on outside tables and chairs
