Pleasantville Mayor to join Head Start Birthday Celebration

Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Pleasantville Head Start Center, 723 W. Adams Ave., will have a special guest to help celebrate the Head Start Program’s 52nd birthday when Pleasantville Mayor Jesse Tweedle visits and reads to the children on Thursday, May 18 at 9:30 a.m.

Tweedle’s visit is part of the 1,400 Community Read Days nationwide to help celebrate Head Start’s milestone birthday and raise awareness of the impact the Head Start program has on children and families.

Tweedle will be reading to Pleasantville Head Start children from new books donated by Scholastic.

The National Head Start Association partnered with Scholastic to organize the national reading days of reading.

"We are thrilled to have Mayor Tweedle join our Pleasantville Head Start family to celebrate Head Start's Birthday. Joining us for Community Reading Day is another example of the Mayor’s ardent support for Head Start," Kelli Best, Gateway Head Start Director of Operations, said. "We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase all of the hard work we do for our nation's most vulnerable children and their families.”
