Gateway Community Action Partnership is hosting its third annual Gateway Golf Classic event at the historic Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club on Thursday, May 18. Proceeds will go to Gateway's core, mission-driven programs that focus on self-sufficiency.

  Self-sufficiency is the cornerstone of the agency’s mission, and literacy is at the core of self-sufficiency. Gateway’s Golf Classic will focus on such cornerstone programs that are traditionally un-funded or underfunded, so that successful efforts to help individuals and families will continue or expand.

  Since 1987, Gateway has served individuals and families in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties as the designated Community Action Partnership agency, as well as providing additional services on a limited basis in other surrounding counties. The agency serves more than 50,000 unduplicated clients annually.

   In addition to golfers playing Seaview’s historic Bay Course, a magnificent facility that hosted a PGA Championship won by the legendary Sam Snead, and several LPGA events, the May 18 event will kick off with a helicopter ball drop contest on the 18^th fairway prior to the noon shotgun start.

Contestants will receive a numbered golf ball as part of their entry fee and more than 120 golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter above the 18^th fairway with the marked ball closest to, or in the hole winning a prize from Seaview.

  The third annual golf classic is part of the agency’s 30^th anniversary activities and has been a very enjoyable and successful outing. Sponsorship is available and golfers are required to pre-register for the event. Registration and lunch begin at 10:30 a.m. The day includes lunch, a round of golf, gifts/prizes and dinner.
