Freedom Tour On September 18

  A Freedom Tour titled "Freedom Speakers, Free People of Color and Greenwich Quakers" will be held on Sunday, September 18 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Greenwich Friends Meeting, 1064 Ye Greate St., Greenwich.

 

  Cost is $10 per person and the four-hour bus tour will explore the legacy of the Underground Railroad in Western Cumberland County. Space is limited, so those interested should send a check for $10 (per ticket) made out to Greenwich Friends Meeting and also include the following information: Name, address, phone number, e-mail address and number of tickets requested, to Jeanne Doremus, C/O Greenwich Friends Meeting, 484 Sheppard's Mill Rd., Bridgeton, NJ 08302.

  Speakers scheduled for the Freedom Tour include Joan Bryant, Lisa Stewart Garrison, Albert B. Kelly, Mayor of Bridgeton, and congregation members of Greenwich Bethel AME Church.

  The Freedom Tour is a project sponsored by Gateway Community Action Partnership, in collaboration with the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, Bridgeton Public Library, City of Bridgeton, Greenwich Friends Meeting and Historic Bethel Othello AME Church with support from the NJ Council for the Humanities, a partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
