Gateway collaborating to host Affordable health insurance signups in Cumberland County

  Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Head Start and Early Head programs, in conjunction with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families, will hold an affordable health insurance signup event on Saturday, January 16.

  The event is free and open to the public and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Marino Center, 11 Washington St, Bridgeton.

  The events are free and open to the public and provide the opportunity to sign up for the Affordable Care Act (ACA).To sign up, participants must bring the following items for all members of their households: proof of citizenship/residency, proof of income, social security number, proof of address, photo ID and log-in information (user name, password and e-mail address) if you have enrolled or began the (ACA) enrollment process.

  “At the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families (HHS/ACF), we are thrilled to continue our collaboration with the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Gateway Community Action Partnership and the Region II Head Start Association to help New Jersey residents get health insurance coverage prior to the January 31deadline.  “Our partners have a long and proud history of service to the community and I am happy that ACF is again working with them, as well as a new partner, Complete Care Health Network, to meet the need for health insurance coverage in New Jersey,” Joyce Thomas, Regional Administrator, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Region II, said. ACF is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

  Jonathan Griffin, chapter president of Cumberland County’s Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Beta Iota Iota noted, “The Brothers of Beta Iota Iota Chapter has always strived, since 1989, to be a contributing positive partner within our community.  The ACA Enrollment Event complies with our National Health Initiative, which encourages good healthy practices.”

  In addition to Gateway and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s Beta Iota Iota, community partners for the events include: Region II Head Start, the Administration for Children & Families, Gateway Head Start, CompleteCare and Health Insurance Marketplace.

  “As a community action agency, we are about enlisting community partners in action to benefit our community,” Albert B. Kelly, CCAP, Gateway President & CEO, said. “These health insurance signup events are examples of our focus and mission in action.”
