“Need To Feed” Food Summit planned

 

  Gateway Community Action Partnership, in conjunction with community partners, is planning a January 20 Food Summit at Cumberland County College’s Luciano Center.

  The “Need To Feed” Food Summit is free and open to the public and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Pre-registration is required by going on the following website: wiredforchange.com. The summit’s goal is to bring community members together to discuss solutions to increase availability of meals for approximately 11,000 at-risk children in Cumberland County living below the poverty level ensuring their access to healthy, nutritious meals all year long.

  Albert B. Kelly, CCAP, president & CEO of Gateway and City of Bridgeton mayor, will open the summit with keynote speakers to follow in the morning and afternoon panels to generate community feedback.

  Speakers include Rev. Dr. Robin Weinstein, pastor of Bethany Grace Community Church, Douglas Fisher, NJ Secretary of Agriculture and a Bridgeton native, NJ Assemblyman John Burzichelli, Adele La Tourette, director of the NJ Anti-Hunger Coalition and Patricia Dombroski, administrator of the Food & Nutrition Services Mid-Atlantic Region.

  Along with Gateway, event sponsors include: Inspira Health Network, Shop Rite, TD Bank, Community Food Bank of NJ, USDA, NJ Department of Agriculture, Bridgeton Area PAL, Summer Feeding Program, NJ Women, Infants & Children (WIC) NJ SNAP Ed and Jersey Fresh.
