Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Literacy Volunteers program will conduct a tutor training session beginning January 14, 2014 in Millville. Deadline for registration is January 7, 2014. Trained tutors will work one-on-one with adult learners.

   The training course will run for five consecutive Tuesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Holly City Family Success Center, 21 E. Main St., Rear Suite, Millville, NJ. Residents of Cumberland and Salem counties can register for training.

   The training is free and open to the public, but tutor trainees must attend at least four of the five sessions to graduate and become certified to tutor. Tutors will be trained in ESL and basic literacy. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

  Gateway has provided literacy services in Cumberland and Salem counties for the past 18 years and is accredited by Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey and ProLiteracy. Trained tutors generally meet one to two hours per week with learners.
