Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program will host a community celebration on Saturday, Aug. 10 for World Breastfeeding Week.
The World Breastfeeding Week Community Celebration is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the U-Sell Flea Market, 2896 S. Delsea Drive, Vineland, NJ. Inspira Health Network, as well as other community hosts, will also participate. The event will include free refreshments and prizes, entertainment and information for the community.

Gateway Community Action Partnership administers the federally-funded WIC in Cumberland, Salem, Cape May and Camden Counties.
World Breastfeeding Week was born out of collaboration between the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations’ Children’s Fund (UNICEF). WBW has been celebrated every August since it began in 1992. Today, more than 170 countries participate worldwide in an effort to “protect, promote and support breastfeeding” by putting breastfeeding in an international spotlight.
This year’s World Breastfeeding Week theme is “Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers,” and highlights Breastfeeding Peer Counseling and other support women receive from family and social networks, healthcare, workplace and government/legislation.

Bridgeton Mayor Albert B. Kelly, who also is President and CEO of Gateway CAP, has signed a World Breastfeeding Week Proclamation calling attention to providing support to breastfeeding mothers in the community.
